Help make Oregon a leader in protecting horses from abuse and neglect!
Our experience tells us that there are horses in our community that are suffering from neglect right now. Winter is our Intake Season—the time of year when the number of horses needing help rises dramatically. This has been our busiest intake year yet, with over 100 horses from law enforcement cases alone. Will you help us be there for these horses? Please donate today at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/seogeneral.
Winter is the time of year when horses can no longer maintain a healthy body weight without adequate amounts of supplemental hay. It is the time of year when some horses use up their own body tissue (fat, muscle, organs) just to stay warm and alive. Yet some owners are unable or unwilling to feed them, much less provide other types of minimal standards of care.
These are the horses that SEO has made it our mission to help. They are owned by people who either do not want help or who fail to see the condition of their animals. Trust us, unless a horse is in imminent danger, law enforcement does NOT want to have to seize them. They give people a chance to improve the care of their animals before they even think about pressing charges. Horses are expensive and time-consuming for counties to take on, so they are grateful when we step up to help protect vulnerable animals.
As we continue to grow our partnerships with different law enforcement agencies around our state, so must our capacity to assist them. The more agencies ask for our help, the MORE HORSES we must be able to take in and care for. Will you help us be ready to answer the call?
This year our end-of-year giving campaign focus on just that—increasing our capacity to say yes to more law enforcement cases. As the calls for our help continue to increase as they have for the last 10 years, we must have the funds needed to do what their former owners failed to do—care for them properly.
Over the next few weeks we will be highlighting some of the horse’s stories from various law enforcement cases that we have assisted with in the past. We hope that it helps give you a clearer picture of not only the suffering these horses have endured and the near-miraculous recoveries most have made, but it will also give you an idea of what the possible need is out there, right now.
Donate now and stand with us to help make Oregon a leader in saying NO to horse neglect!
